Impressions of Ponta Delgada
Ponta Delgada (Narrow point, 65,000 eople) is the capital of the Azores on the island São Miguel. São Miguel (Saint Michael, 140,000 people) is the biggest island of the Azores with a surface of 746.8 km². The island is 63.7 km long and 16.1 km wide.

At the edge of the volcan
The Sete Cidades (seven towns) is a volcanic Caldera on the island São Miguel. In it there is the splitted lake of the same name with a surface of 4.35 km². From the crater edge one lake seems blue (Lagoa Azul, blue lake), the other green (Lagoa Verde, green lake).

The hot springs of Furnas
The hike leads us in the warm rain along the Furnas lake to the fumaroles, solfataras and geysers at the north end of the lake and then to the Terra Nostra park with the ferrous thermal swimming-pool.

Mystical Lake Fogo
The Lagoa do Fogo (fire lagoon) is a crater lake in the internal Caldera of the strato-volcano √Āgua de Pau. He originated in 1563 after an outbreak of the Pico da Sapateira which is no more existing since this time.

In the heart of Terceira
Yesterday we have flown to Terceira. Today we walk over meadows on the high plain of Terceira with many endemic plants, remains of the original juniper and laurel woods.

The volcan cave of Algar do Carvao

Impressions of Angra do Heroismo
Angra do Heroísmo (Bay of the heroism) is the capital of the island Terceira and the oldest town of the Azores. Terceira is an island of the central group of the Azores. She encloses approx. 400 km².

Ascension of the Morro Grande
In the morning we have flown from Terceira to S√£o Jorge. In the afternoon we climb individually the volcano cone Morro Grande bordering on the capital of Velas.

The life on the rural country
From the hamlet of Lourais on the southeast coast it goes by a rural area, past stone houses with old terraced gardens, to the Faj√£ dos Vimes.

Volcanoes and Sea
The today¬īs hike leads us past numerous hydrangeas and through tree moor wood from the Piquinho da Urze down to the Faj√£ da Caldeira de Santo Cristo

From Rosais to Ponta dos Rosais
Because of bad weather on the high plateau the planned hike has fallen out. Therefore, we run from Rosais to the Ponta dos Rosais.

Swimming in Ponta do Norte
On a volcanic land tongue on the north side of the island, the Faj√£ do Ouvidor, there is the natural swimming-pool ¬īSim√£o Dias¬ī.

By the ferry to Faial
After an exciting day we go by the ferry from Velas to Horta on the island Faial.

The explosion crater of Faial
The Cabeço Gordo (Fat head) is the highest mountain of the island Faial. The crater edge of the volcano rises up to 1. 043-m height. The Caldeira has a diameter of 2 km and the valley kettle drops precipitously 400 m. This main crater stamps the island Faial.

Ascention of the volcan Pico
Mount Pico (Ponta do Pico, Montanha do Pico, Serra do Pico, Pico Alto called simply Pico) is a stratovolcano located on Pico Island, in the mid-Atlantic archipelago of the Azores. With a height of at 2,351 metres it is the highest mountain of Portugal and one of the highest volcanoes of Europe.

Whale Watching in front of Pico
More than 20 Cetacea species - whales, dolphins and tumblers - live temporarily in the waters around the Azores or pass this on her wandering routes. Today on a Whale Watching Tour we want to see some of it.

Return flight to Ponta Delgada
Our trip from island to island comes to an end. From Faial we fly back to Ponta Delgada on the island S√£o Miguel. Tomorrow we will start in the direction of home.
